Hello! I'd like to introduce myself to you and tell you a little about me. My name is Noelle Geary and I have taught 2nd grade at Father Marquette Academy for the past 21 years. I moved to Marquette in 1988 and have grown to love the area.
I grew up near Traverse City Mi. in a beautiful small town (Frankfort) located on the shores of Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake. I am lucky enough to be able to visit my wonderful home every summer. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters who live in various parts of the country. I have two sons, Sean, 32, and Tyler, 28. Sean lives and works in town and Tyler has recently moved to Sault St. Marie, Mi. to begin a new job.
I absolutely love teaching, and am fortunate enough to get to teach our Catholic faith as well. We have some of the greatest discussions during relgion time, as well as all day, as teaching and learning moments present themselves. Going to weekly mass is another time I look forward to with the students. Children's literature is one of my passions. I am so fortunate to be able to read quality literature with my students every day.
The "norms" or expectations in our classroom are Respect for self, Respect for others, and Responsibility for all of your actions. My philosophy is that it is my job to nurture and help develop all of my students' gifts from God. I do my very best to be kind, helpful and respectful to all of my students, all of the time. I also expect them to treat their peers and me in the same manner. I believe that they may not remember one thing that I teach them this year, but they will remember how I treated them. Work hard and Be Kind is our class motto. We will also talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and work on strengthening them in ourselves all year long. We also particpate in the Virtue program schoolwide. We learn about and practice a monthly virtue.
I feel very blessed to be working with all of your children. They are each unique and special and bring their own talents and personalities to our classroom. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you as the year progresses. Please feel free to contact me with any problems, questions or concerns that arise during the school year. Nothing is too small, or not important, if it concerns your child's learning or experience in our classroom or school. I can be reached through e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by school phone (225-1129), or home phone 906 (869-0818).
Blessings as we journey through this school year together as a team to give your child the best 2nd grade experience possible!
